Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN, FCIArb, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (with Honours) in 1981 from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982. In 1985, he founded Paul Usoro & Co. (PUC), a full-service Nigerian law firm with its principal office in Lagos, and branches in Abuja and Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Mr. Usoro was elevated to the Inner Bar as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2003. He is a consummate boardroom player and has, at various times, served on the Boards of several companies such as Premium Pensions Ltd., C Services (Credit Bureau) PIc, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PIc, Marina Securities Ltd and Airtel Networks Limited. Mr. Usoro was the pioneer Chairman of the Communications Committee of the NBA Section of Business Law (‘SBL»). He is currently a Council member ofthe International Bar Association, a Bencher, a member of the National Judicial Council, a member of Presidential Implementation Committee on Autonomy of State Legislature and State Judiciary and Vice-Chairman, Council for Legal Education. Mr. Usoro is a past President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
He has contributed immensely to the reform and development of the Nigerian laws. Some key legslations which he has handled with his colleagues are: Nigerian Communications Act 2003; the Nigerian Communications (Enforcement processes etc.) Regulations, 2005; the Annual Operating Levy Regulations, 2014; Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2014; Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency Act 2007; Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act 2003; Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria Act 2007; Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria Act (Professional Misconduct and Discipline Regulations) 2010; Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria Act 2007 (Registration of Freight Forwarders) Regulations 2010 etc.
